About the ePrescribing Blog

I’m creating this blog to talk more about the joys and trials of electronic prescribing.

About George Getty III
George was a bright child.  His parents knew immediately that he was headed for great things in math, science, and programming.  His scientific prowess was immediately evident after he genetically cloned fruit flies at the age of 3 by leaving a banana on the porch.  Plus his parents wouldn’t buy him a Speak & Spell, so writing was out of the question.  At the age of 5, he drew his first 2 dimensional rectangle with the Logo Turtle.  By the age of 7, he was able to do the Rubik’s cube in less than 1 minute, using only “goo gone” and scotch tape.  The crowning achievement of his life was when he ran with the bulls in Pamplona.  Escaping harm as he ran through his living room while watching the event, he only paused once to flip the Laserdisc to side b.   In high school, he was voted most likely to be the third person in his family to have the same first and last name.  In his spare time, George still enjoys a quick peel & stick of his trusty Rubik’s cube, in addition to making his famous homemade spaghetti sauce from a Prego bottle.

About my eprescribing experience (my coworkers wrote this):
George has created an eprescribing web service for over 2000 physicians that sends eprescriptions at a rate of 1.1 million transactions per year. To put that in perspective, in 2007, all of California sent 1.9 million eprescription attempts.  He has also done a lot of work with medication history retrieval, adverse reaction reporting, and other eprescribing stuff.
